Pause to think a moment

My cousin e-mailed me just now and asked me, are there any German kids in your school? A simple enough question(no I go to school on base so no German kids). There are kids who speak German fluently, but no Germans. Which got me thinking, what defines a German? What makes a German a German? Is it fabulous cooking skills? Their up-bringing? The culture they live in? How they act? Where they live, how they live? Where they were born? What language they speak?  How do we label someone as an "American" or a "German" or any other place? What do we base it on and is it different for some than for others?

Should we always label someone as "German" or any other place? Why do we label them? Does it make us feel better about ourselves? Does it give us a sense of patriotism?

These are things to think about. When even the smallest of things gets you pondering big questions like these, don't ignore them. Pause to think, then share your questions (and sometimes thoughts) with others. Who knows, they could change the world (although I don't think these questions will).

Yes, many many things have happened

Guten Abend! We have not had internet so I couldn't blog (also when we got internet again I was on my e-mail and youtube). Anyway, lots of things have happened. We have a house! Yay!! We got to see some of downtown Schweinfurt. I had my first bratwurst. So delicious! I've also had lots of German chocolate and a kinder egg. Honestly, whoever put a German in a kitchen and said "Cook" was really smart. German+Food=Genius. Yummy! =D
I have started school. Today was my first day so can't say much. I have fallen in love with the song Perfect Enemy by t.A.T.u . I don't know what that has to do with school, but I thought I'd mention it. Well I have to go before a certain person kills me to watch Doctor Who.
                                      School, chocolate, and hope,

Somebody fix my computer!

Please!!!!!!! I can't read or speak German fluently! All the websites I've gone to have been in German! I can't find the buttons to change it back to English on some of them.
So okay and added thought: my dad is a dork. Bye.

intro to me and my blog

Hi, I'm Ren. This is my blog, but it's attached to my mom's. About me: I love manga and anime, I love to read and write, I love books, and I'm really good in school. Straight A's all the time. My favorite subject is math. I love history too. We had to move in the middle of the school year so it's a little confusing, but it's cool. I've always wanted a blog so having one now is awesome. I love movies and music.
You can usually find me reading a book, listening to my iPod, and/or on youtube. I can be found watching movies and TV shows often too. I'm a greak (geek and freak). Since we moved to Germany writing this blog will be pretty easy. I'll talk about what we do and about Germany and all the places we go in Europe. I'll also talk about other stuff.

Well, this is a pretty long intro so I'll stop now and I hope you enjoy my blog.
